Happy Birthday, Uncle Larry. You were always such a friendly, loving, and compassionate man. There was never a dull moment when around you. Today is My Husbands Birthday..He an I both looked forward to this day ..He would have been 74..but today he is celebrating a Birthday of all Birthday's..Larry was born in St.Louis Missouri..an according to him the sun was shining..he lived his childhood in St.Louis to the age of 9..at which time his Dad took a job in Cattletsburg .Ky. an His Family came to live in Kentucky an lived there thru child hood.. He graduated from Cattletsburg High School .He took a job as a Orderly at Kings Daughters Hospital an part time position at the Stien Funeral Home in Catlettsburg, which he worked his self thru Mortuary school.. at that time he also became a Dad to a Son Tim Burke, which lives at Bardstown Ky..Larry graduated from Mortuary School an worked with the Stein Funeral Home in Ashland Ky.. till he found a Managers position in Prestonsburg Ky, for Floyd Funeral Home..at which time he took the position..little did he know this would someday become his Business bought an owned by himself.. Larry Divorced an Married again at which time he became the Dad to Traci Vicars which lives in Prestonsburg, Ky..not only did he become her Dad but he gave her the trade she practices in today at Preston Funeral Home.. During his beginning in the funeral home business he met a young man by the name of Roger Nelson, which neither one of the two would know how close they would become..more like brothers an continued their relationship thru out their lives..Roger an Larry served many families together an made memories that followed Larry thru his life..Roger would eventually leave Larry and the business an start his own business at Martin Ky. Larry would end up leaving his home in 1991 an move to Langely Ky in 1993..In 1995 he met Mary Lou Davis which in yrs to come would become his wife..In the Year of 1999 May Martin sold Floyd F.H. building..In Feb 2001 Larry Divorced. In March 2001 Larry would buy out all the investors of Floyd F.H.Business , an it would become his..being the sole owner of that business.. while he never got the property where Floyd F.H. stood he purchased the Center Stage Building an started his Own dream.. BURKE FUNERAL HOME..Larry worked hard trying to remodel his building an keeping up with his business..He never asked nothing of any of us but to try to keep his dream going .In Feb.2002 Larry an Mary Lou Davis would marry an work side beside in the Funeral home .Larry always offered the best possible service to all those he served..He enjoyed the visitation's because that gave him the time to visit an tell his stories..stories was one of his specialties. Larry loved his Business but he also loved his sports ..He loved his softball, basketball, an the St. Louis Cardinals..he also loved his golfing an fishing..Through his later yrs in the funeral home business he became unable to continue his dream an ended his dream due to his health..while this was a heart break for him ..Larry continued to stay in touch with his close friends..He said he never forgot a face ..an that he didn't..Larry 's wife became employed at Nelson Frazier an later Larry to would come to work with his long time brother n friend Roger Nelson..Larry suffered a terrible loss in 2012 when his best friend an Brother of this world passed away..While still able to do what he wanted to do Larry an his buddies Greg Nelson Greg Hall an Roger Lafferty began the Handicap Golfers Association..an it was golf everyday even if it rained..Larry looked forward to those days so much. Larry was a great husband an a wonderful Dad..Larry became a Dad to My three children as he said he was proud for them to call him Dad..because they were his children in his heart.. always gave them his time an loved spending days swimming fishing an teaching them how to be productive adults..they shared a remarkable closeness that would go with him an them thru his life..We were blessed with the Sunshine of our Lives Larry said.when our Grandson Parker was born ..Parker would become his everything an his best buddy..As i think back on our life together an the his life all together My husband was a man of all men..When we lost Larry we all suffered a terrible loss..he was our Protector an best friend.. Someday the Sun will shine again in our lives..an even though Larry is no longer here in Body his spirit will for ever remain in hearts an our minds..Love U Darling an Happy BIrthday in Heaven
